Description and Table of Contents
Description
This text consists of national and general reports presented at the fourth International Symposium on International Sales of Works of Art, held in Madrid on 12-14 February 1992. These reports were based on questionnaires which were developed on the three topics listed below. The questionnaire pertaining to each particular report precedes the descriptions of the national and general reports. The general reports cover transnational tendencies and points of view concerning art trade. The questionnaires and reports deal with three topics: the regulatory framework for the free national circulation of objects of art; rights of artists and circulation of works of art; and certificates of authenticity and expert's certificates. The general reports on EC and other regulations affecting art trade, rights of artists and expert certification are included in the language in which they were originally written: English or French. Each of the three topics is introduced in Spanish. Reports originate in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ialy, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK. The annex contains EC, GATT and other regulations relevant to the international art trade.
