内容説明
These two volumes contain the edited versions of papers presented at the Eighth International Conference on Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Engineering, held in Toulouse, France in 1993. The conference has established itself as an international and unique forum for the presentation of the latest research and development in the application of artificial intelligence in the fields of engineering. After an uncertain beginning, artificial intelligence in engineering, has now become more realistic, efficient and competitive. The increasing range of real-world applications of artificial intelligence, the integration of artificial intelligence technology with other engineering technologies and the development of new artificial intelligence methods, especially suited to engineering, are reflected in this book. This trend is manifested by the number of papers focusing on artificial intelligence in high-tech engineering as well as on artificial intelligence original tools and techniques for engineering.
The chapters reflect an emphasis on aeronautics and space, autonomous robots, scheduling, engineering modelling and analysis, simulation, human/computer interface and qualitative reasoning, while more traditional topics such as process control, manufacturing, design and neural networks are also covered extensively. From the large number of papers submitted to the conference, these volumes contain those selected by the editors, the local committee and the advisory board. The papers have been grouped under the following headings: invited papers, design, methods and techniques, decision support, aeronautics and space, human-computer interface and information systems, simulation, knowledge acquisition and life cycle management, process control, applied qualitative reasoning, engineering modelling and analysis, autonomous systems, robotics, scheduling, reliability and safety, neural networks and manufacturing. This book should be valuable for engineers and scientists interested in gaining a fuller understanding of current developments in artificial intelligence.
