Description and Table of Contents

Description

Advances in the Chemistry of Insect Control III discusses the chemical exploitation of new types of synthetic insect control agents and their biological activity, as well as the synthesis of biologically active natural products. It comprises entirely new material detailing advances made in the subject since the previous volume was published in 1990. The book covers a wide range of compound types with differing modes of action. Priority is given to the synthesis of insecticidal and acaricidal agents, where structure-activity relationships are discussed. Other structures which help to control insects, including pheromones, antifeedants, and proteinase inhibitors and kairomones produced by plants, are also covered. In addition, the book describes how biological observations and assays can lead to the isolation and synthesis of a wide variety of naturally-occurring signalling compounds. Advances in the Chemistry of Insect Control III provides a wealth of fascinating chemistry not documented elsewhere. It is essential reading for researchers from both industrial and academic groups involved in agricultural chemistry, organic synthesis, and environmental chemistry. Readers will find much of interest in this illuminating volume.
