Designed for classroom use, this anthology introduces and places in context a selection of contributions to our understanding of the European Union. From the world of politics, the voices of Winston Churchill, Robert Schuman, Jean Monnet, Charles de Gaulle, Margaret Thatcher and Jacques Delors present their visions - often conflicting - of a united Europe. From the academic world, the works of David Mitrany, Leon Lindberg, Jack Pelkmans and others ask key questions and lay the theoretical foundations for more recent contributions by such scholars as Robert Keohane, Stanley Hoffman, Philippe Schmitter, Wolfgang Streeck, Andrew Moravcsik and Wayne Sandholtz, who explore a variety of questions regarding decision-making in the Community, the origins of the Single European Act, the impact of the Maastricht Treaty, and the EU's future enlargement.
