Professor A. E. Green, FRS, is one of the outstanding British research workers in the field on theoretical and applied mechanics. In addition to two well-known books, he is the author of more than 175 publications. This book contains a set of sixteen up-to-date research papers written by a number of colleagues and friends and cover a range of topics from thermodynamics to problems associated with crystals, linear, nonlinear and fibre-reinforced elastic materials, viscoplastic and granular materials.
