The role of nurses in monitoring and optimizing the health status of the elderly is crucial, as is their role in caring for the elderly person who is ill. This book is designed to introduce the concepts of geriatric nursing to those who work with the elderly and to all nurses in training. Firmly based on a nursing model of care, the book takes account of both physical and non-physical needs and related nursing intervention, and makes full use of the nursing process approach.
