Description

Using the metaphor of landscape to get beyond reductionist analysis and institutional studies of financial intermediaries, these essays seek to establish that although there is no universally valid "winning formula" for developing nations, careful contextual analysis of individual cases - using not just technical financial tools, but also insights from legal anthropology, political administration, and sociology - can provide insight into improvement strategies. The book sets out to make readers aware that financial landscapes in developing countries consist of more than just banks and official monetary authorities, and can best be described by using the tools of many disciplines.
