内容説明
Providing evidence of psychologists' historical and contemporary complicity in racism, this book examines their continued failure to eradicate it from the profession. Numerous examples of modern-day racism are given in psychological theory, textbooks, research, counselling and within professional bodies - and an historical survey of the thought of biological racists puts the issue into context. The authors contend that little of the racism in psychology has to do with assumptions of biological inferiority, rather that a pernicious cultural and institutional racism has been a lasting tradition in psychology. The coverage of the major theories aims to provide a valuable introduction to ideas on racism, and thereby promote an ultimately non-racist psychology.
