Description
This title was developed from a symposium sponsored by the Division of Analytical Chemistry at the 204th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society held in Washington DC, from August 23-28, 1992. The book presents roles for mass spectrometry in the detection and characterization of microorganisms, and features GC-MS for clinical diagnosis of viral infection. Other features include: summaries of the status of detection of biological agents and of modifications in ribonucleic acids in microorganisms; descriptions of electrospray, laser desorption and tandem mass spectrometry for protein processing and modification in viruses; and discussions of membrane liposaccharide structures in pathogenic bacteria.
