"Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy" is a clinical textbook for psychotherapists and counsellors who use the theory and techniques of Transactional Analysis in their practice. It provides a comprehensive guide to goal-setting and clinical planning for every stage of treatment; problems of technique are illustrated throughout by clinical vignettes and case material. At the theoretical level, the author represents Transactional Analysis as a contemporary psychotherapy based on the classical work of Eric Berne and predecessors such as Federn, Fairbairn, and Klein, which integrates humanistic/existential philosophy with behavioural pragmatism. This is not only a practical textbook relevant to modern developments in supervision, but one which makes a new contribution to ways of thinking about transference and countertransference, the theory of self, and the process of psychotherapeutic change. It is intended as a bridge between Transactional Analysis and other theories of psychotherapy. This book should be of interest to psychotherapists and counsellors.
