This is the first of a series of annual volumes designed to explore contemporary issues and research in the field of organizational behaviour. The purpose of the volume is to provide postgraduate students and practising managers with quick and up-to-date accounts of research on issues of relevance. Although the traditional topics of motivation, leadership, job design and absenteeism are explored, more innovative research reflects the increasing interdependence in organizations (between persons, across groups, and between work and home life).
