Description and Table of Contents

Description

The aim of this book is to present those facts, concepts and research issues about social, cognitive and emotional development throughout the life span, which are of particular relevance to clinicians. The authors emphasize the different sorts of challenges and transitions, gains and losses throughout life and consider how individual development is influenced by the social context. The book integrates the various perspectives from neurobiology, sociology and psychology. It is designed to provide an account of the principles and research findings on development that are relevant for the work of clinicians dealing with both children and adults. The approach is interdisciplinary and the book should be suitable for child and adult psychiatrists, clinical and educational psychologists, social workers, family therapists and paediatricians.
