Description and Table of Contents

Description

Using a wealth of research information gathered from 1000 respondents from seven ethnic minority groups, this book details the social, cultural and religious priorities of these groups and through this, their involvement in sport and physical recreation. It dispels myths commonly held by sports and recreation managers that ethnic minorities show less interest and enthusiasm for sport than their caucasian counterparts. Ways in which these minority groups are disadvantaged become apparent. The importance of local authority provision is stressed and ways in which this provision could be made more accessible are outlined. An important text for all those considering the issues of cultural diversity in the community.
