Description and Table of Contents

Description

A clinically-oriented reference on nephrology that includes many therapeutic developments. The treatment of glomerulonephritis is described including new applications of cyclosporine in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome. The management of complications in end stage renal failure is discussed, as are new treatments for hypertension including the use of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors to prevent the progression of renal disease in hypertensive patients. This text describes new modalities to manage kidney transplant patients, including chemical immunosuppressive agents for transplant rejection. There are updates on diagnostic techniques, such as methods applied to patients with proteinuria and haematuria; evaluating and diagnosing hypertensive patients, and patients with fluid electrolyte/acid-base problems.
