Description
This is the second of two volumes presenting the proceedings of the 1st International Congress of the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL). Featured in this volume are the papers presented at the sessions on fatty acids and the cardiovascular system; omega3 and omega6 fatty acids, lipids and lipoproteins; omega3 fatty acids and thrombosis; fatty acids and cancer; inflammation and immunology; essential fatty acids, pregnancy and pregnancy complications; and clinical trials with omega3 fatty acids. Taken together, the publications provide the most up-to-date information on the physiological and metabolic aspects of fatty acids and lipids in health and disease. A special focus is placed on the role of omega3 fatty acids and their relationship to omega6, omega9, saturated fats and trans fatty acids. These proceedings will undoubtedly interest biomedical and clinical researchers in the fields of physiology, biochemistry, nutrition and dietetics as well as policymakers at government level.
