Description
This proceedings, "High Speed Ground Transportation Systems I: Planning and Engineering", consists of 74 papers presented at the ASCE's First International Conference on High Speed Ground Transportation (HSGT) Systems held in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. during October 25-28, 1992. The 74 papers cover a wide variety of topics, and are grouped into 12 sections covering HSGT systems: an overview; planning; environmental and other impacts; patronage forecasting; cost estimating; alignment considerations; safety and quality; design; financial and legal issues; nationwide networks; and HSGT technologies. Within these broad categories, many of the papers present actual case studies concerning different aspects of planning and engineering HSGT systems. Along with the diverse coverage of this volume, these practical experiences make this proceedings a valuable reference source for anyone interested in high speed ground transportation systems.
