Description and Table of Contents

Description

Within the EC there are strict rules on the granting of aids and subsidies by Member States which affect intra-Community trade. Any aid granted by a Member State which distorts or threatens to distort competition in the common market by favouring certain undertakings or the production of certain goods is, in so far as it affects trade between Member States, incompatible with the common market. Although such aid is generally prohibited, certain categories of aid are considered as exceptions to this rule. "EC State Aids" is a guide to the complex rules surrounding this important area of competition law. It offers an analysis of Articles 92-94, combined with the full text of relevant EC legislative measures and numerous illustrative case summaries.
