"East Asian Higher Education: Traditions and Transformations" puts East Asian sociopolitical developments in new light by providing new and little-known materials which will be welcomed by researchers in the field. Nineteen scholars cover Burma, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, North Korea, The Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. One main theme of the book is that universities and the administration and proliferation of higher education provide excellent insight into East Asia's ancient, colonial and post-war history and progress.
