Description

Every teacher of young children knows that their pupils' learning is often shallow, leading to them constructing strange interpretations of what they hear in the classroom - indicating a complete lack of understanding. This book is an account of one teacher of eight-year old children attempting to remedy the situation through the introduction of "thinking books". Each day, the children had to write in their "thinking" exercises book one thing they had learnt. In response, the teacher read their accounts and each day wrote back to them. This book charts the progress of the children from their early comments on their daily activities to their developing their ability to reflect on what they had learnt.
