Description and Table of Contents
Description
This is a course companion and aid for students taking their first course in numerical analysis. The author adopts a problem-based approach to develop concepts and reinforces the theory with extensive use of worked examples and numerous unworked problems at the end of each section, a characteristic feature of the "College Work Out" series. No prior knowledge of Numerical Analysis is assumed. Early chapters introduce the central principles which are subsequently developed in more detail as the reader progresses through the text.
Table of Contents
Number Representation, Arithmetic and Errors - Finite Difference Operators - Summation of Series, Taylor Series - Interactive Solution of Equations - Polynomial Equations - Linear Equations - Polynomial Interpolations - Spline Interpolation - Linear Least Squares Approximation - Numerical Differentiation - Numerical Integration - Optimization - Differential Equations - Index
