The increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere over the past 50 years has been the most dramatic in the history of the earth. Understanding the environmental implications of this increase and finding ways of mitigating `greenhouse' gas emissions is of the utmost importance. Carbon Dioxide Chemistry is the first book to cover all aspects of basic carbon dioxide chemistry for the following crucial issues and processes: catalysis - producing other compounds, fuels and valuable products; photosynthesis and respiration - carbon dioxide exchange within the biosphere; separation and concentration - from flue gases in industry; the oceans - a natural store, and a potential site for concentrated deposits; electrochemical and photochemical reduction - 'photosynthesis by humans'.
