内容説明

The past decade has witnessed the emergence of verocytotoxin (VT)-producing Escherichia coli (VTEC), particularly serotype 0157:H7, as major food-borne pathogens of humans. Of particular public health concern are the serious complications of VTEC infection. This volume contains a selection of papers that were presented at the above mentioned symposium and workshop, from June 27th to 30th, 1994. The participants of VTEC '94, from 25 different countries, represented diverse areas of interest including clinical and public health microbiology, internal medicine, pediatrics, veterinary microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and the food industry. This, together with the participation of leading experts in the field enabled VTEC '94 to realise its mission of promoting a multidisciplinary state-of-the-art meeting on the topic of VTEC infection.
