Description and Table of Contents

Description

The period from the mid-1980s has been a critical one in the development of international migration policy within Europe. The Single European Act, the involvement of EFTA countries in the European Economic Area and political events in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union have all highlighted the need for a harmonization of migration policy in Europe. This book provides an information system to inform policy makers on current international migration trends. The system allows evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of information sources, and analysis of current migration trends, and serves as a basis for identifying pertinent new research issues.
