This book is a comprehensive textbook on public transport, including its technology, organization, planning, costing and pricing. The author pays special attention to land-use planning, and to developments in other countries with innovations relevant to Britain. A series of texts on environmental planning for use in undergraduates and postgraduate planning courses and for those involved in all aspects of the planning process. "Peter White has been responsible for postgraduate teaching in public transport systems at the Polytechnic of Central London ( PCL ) since 1971 and is currently course leader for the MSc transport planning course. Since joining the PCL he has been responsible for developing research in public transport and has undertaken consultancy work in a number of areas, including work with the Select Committee on Nationalized Industries and a study of the West Midlands Travelcard.". This book is intended for students and researchers in planning and public transport.
