内容説明

A comprehensive survey of architecture and urbanism in New York between the years 1945 and 1976, this book examines the significant buildings, redevelopment projects and unbuilt schemes. Organized geographically, it also includes discussion of interiors, the outer boroughs and suburban developments. The text utilizes primary sources as commentary, quoting from critics, architects and designers of the time. All the photographs are from the period. This period was a pivotal era during which New York took on an important international position. The book features some of the more important and visible additions to the city's skyline, such as the Lincoln Center, the Twin Towers, Lever House, the development of the Lower East Side, the building of the United Nations complex, the transformation of Park and Sixth avenues, and the redevelopment of Harlem.
