Description
This is a completely revised and updated version of a much-used, concise and readable introductory textbook, first published in 1984.
This edition covers all the major ideologies, adding Feminism and Ecologism to the original line-up. An introductory chapter charts the recent resurgence of the ideological controversy and assesses the significance of the collapse of Soviet bloc communism and of `end of ideology' theses.
Each subsequent chapter explores the origins and historical background of each ideology, and looks at it in its British and international contexts.
Political Ideologies makes the character of each ideology and the interrelationships clear, avoiding complexity and jargon. The authors have worked closely together to produce a coherent and consistently well-written text.
