"The collection of ecclesiastical institutes, laws and homilies here reproduced consists of two parts, one (fols. 3-57) written about the middle of the eleventh century and the other (fols. 70-177) some fifty years earlier. They were certainly bound together by 1580 ... The earlier portion, partly in Anglo-Saxon and partly in Latin, is ... 'a kind of theological commonplace book ...'; the later portion, all in Anglo-Saxon, provides a good copy of the Laws of Cnut and of the legal material that forms their background."--Pref
