内容説明

As a study in English of Acmeism as a movement in its own right, this book shows how the early 20th-century movement developed into a way of thinking about poetry and the Russian literary tradition. The main Acmeist forum, Tsekh Poetov; Acmeism's history and relationship with Russian Symbolism; its theoretical and critical principles; intertextuality in Acmeist poetic practice; and the philosophy behind the movement are investigated, as are the major exponents of Acmeism: the Russian poets Gumilev, Akhmatova, and Mandel'shtam.
