内容説明
Part of a series of catalogues of Western European painting in the collection of the Hermitage in Leningrad, this book provides researchers with access to a large body of art. This volume, which follows the catalogue on Venetian art, covers the collection of Italian painting from the 13th to 16th centuries. In the introductory essay, the author goes through the salient events in the history of Russian art collecting and the acquisition of the works of art. The 272 paintings, reproduced either in full or in part, are then analyzed with a wealth of factual information. In addition to famous paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Pontormo, Raphael and Rosso Fiorentino, the collection features such important names as Andre del Sarto, Beato Angelico, Domenico Beccafumi, Federico Barocci, Botticelli, Correggio, Ghirlandaio, Filippino Lippi, Pietro Lorenzetti, Simone Martini, Parmigianino and Perugino. There are also works by artists less well-known by the general public, but nevertheless of extraordinary historical importance. In the appendix, the signatures which appear on some of the more important paintings are reproduced.
