In this volume, Middle East scholars and international security specialists assess whether the confidence-building measures (CBMs) pioneered in Europe during the Cold War can be applied to a region where the basic decision to move from a conflictual to a peaceful relationship has not yet been made. As Israel and the Palestinians begin to discuss and implement CBMs this volume provides a critical perspective on these historic initiatives.
