内容説明
This proceedings, ""Ground Failures Under Seismic Conditions"", contains invited and contributed papers which focus on the behavior of silty and gravelly soils under cyclic loading. Recent case histories, some of which are presented in this volume, reveal that silty and gravelly soils may liquefy and such failures have resulted in landslides, lateral spreading and damages to buildings. The papers present an overview of the dynamic properties, cyclic behavior and liquefaction of silty and gravelly soils. Special emphasis was given in the effect of non-plastic and plastic fine content on the cyclic behavior and strength of saturated silty and gravelly soils. Results have also been presented for partially saturated collapsible soils, demonstrating susceptibility to liquefaction of cyclic softening. Current laboratory and field testing methods have been discussed, including the in-situ soil freezing sampling technique and in-situ cyclic testing. Finally, simplified and refined methods of analysis for the prediction of settlements and seismic behavior of soil masses have been examined through a series of case studies.
