Description and Table of Contents
Description
This text takes a global view of the rules governing termination of employment and examines in detail the common law and statutory rules and the financial implications of termination of employment, both for employers and employees. This edition has been expanded by the introduction of a new section entitled "Problems after Termination", which treats the subjects of competition by ex-employees, and references. Increased coverage is given in sections on continuity of employment, the effect of changes of employer, and maternity and dismissal. Recent case law and statutory changes are taken into account, including the Trade Union and Labour Relations Consolidation Act 1992, and the Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Bill. Important decisions of the ECJ, especially relating to sex discrimination and unfair dismissal, are discussed.
