Description
This work provides, in a single volume, an account of Mary Shelley's life from her own pen. It describes her sympathetic identification with nature and her struggles with - and ultimate surrender to - the depression that followed her husband's death. The text is supplemented by extensive annotations, a chronology, maps of the Shelleys's travels, portraits of acquaintances, appendices giving biographical accounts of the members of Mary Shelley's social circles in Pisa and London, the Shelleys's reading lists and a biography.
