Telecommunications services have seen rapid tranformation in the 1980s, including deregulation, privatization and far-reaching technological change. This topical book consists of a comparative study and six country chapters, and examines the effect of this evolution on employment and labour relations in over 40 large firms in 22 industrialized countries. It shows how the change was negotiated through either participatory debate or an imposed solution - and how there were fewer transitional problems when the former approach was adopted.
