Description and Table of Contents

Description

In this text, the experimental and theoretical aspects of surface and interface physics are demonstrated. The techniques of preparing well-defined solid surfaces and interface basic models for the description of structural, vibronic and electronic properties of interfaces are described. Fundamental aspects of absorption and layer growth are also included. Special emphasis is placed upon the electronic properties of semiconductor interfaces and heterostructures in relation to modern microelectronics. Experimental topics covering the basics of ultrahigh-vacuum technology, electron optics, surface spectroscopies and electrical interface characterization techniques are presented in the from of separate panels.
