Description
This volume examines recent research on the molecular biology, biochemistry and physiopathology of anxiety disorders and the molecular and clinical pharmacology of anxiolytic drugs. The text focuses primarily on the molecular biology, pharmacology and physiopathology of GABA a receptors in the mammalian nervous system. Topics covered include: pharmacology of recombinant GABA a receptors; cellular localization; pharmacology and regulation of GABA a receptor subtypes in vivo; neuroactive steroid modulation of GABA a receptors; animal models of different anxiety disorders; clinical pharmacology of anxiolytic drugs; and a search for a new anticonvulsant and anxiolytic benzodiazepine devoid of side effects and tolerance liability.
