Description

This interdisciplinary study focuses on the impact of a totalitarian ideology on the Italian school system during Mussolini's Fascist Regime. Italian educational policies and practices, which embodied Fascist beliefs and objectives, are graphically demonstrated. The book contains detailed descriptions of the curriculum programs in secondary academic schools, actual state examination questions, student compositions, contents of textbooks, names of excluded Jewish authors and teachers, methods of censorship, and restrictions on scholastic books. Reactions of book publishers, scholars, former educators and students are also surveyed and recorded.
