The Child Support Unit was set up in April 1992 to prepare for a smooth and effective transition for the Child Support Agency in 1993 and to improve the service to Income Support customers of the DSS Benefits Agency, for whom child maintenance is an issue, by increasing the number of cases for whom maintenance is obtained from absent parents. To demonstrate its commitment to improving service to clients, the Unit commissioned a survey of clients in order to establish the quality of service received by recent clients, to establish a systematic measure of client satisfaction which can be repeated regularly and which can inform decisions about service delivery, and to establish more detailed information about he client base itself. The findings of the survey are presented in this report.
