内容説明

This text presents a comparative historical study of how two small welfare states - those of Sweden and New Zealand - came into existence, prospered and declined. These two national examples are regarded by commentators as prime models of welfare state systems, thus giving the text a more wider international relevance. From the perspective of labour market policy, this study tells the historical story of the connection between international trade, wage bargaining and the development of the welfare state. It is intended for graduate students and academic economists in the fields of trade, labour and welfare conomics, as well as economic historians and political scientists.
