Osteoarthritis, is the most prevelant disorder of the joint, and is seen in at least 70 per cent of those over the age of 65. This volume, which grew out of collaborative efforts of clinical and basic scientists, contains information on osetoarthritic disorders, and suggests further research areas. One section, "The Standardization of Methods for the Assessment of Articular cartilage Changes in Oseoarthritis of the Knee and Hip Joint", resulted from an AAOS and World Health Organisation consensus-building initiative, based on an April 1994, NIH, AAOS and OREF workshop.
