内容説明

This study traces the history of the capital city of Zimbabwe from its colonial origins, through periods of settler rule and its independence, to the present day. The account illustrates how the environment of the city reflects and embodies the urban policies and economy of a colonial state. It reflects on the city's inequalities of income and the emerging pressures on housing, facilities and services. Not only documenting recent pressures, the study also explores ways in which local authorities are attempting to come to terms with the problems.
