Description

This proceeding consists of papers presented at the International Symposium on the Hydraulics and Hydrology of Arid Lands which was held in conjunction with the 1990 National Conference on Hydraulic Engineering in San Diego, California from July 30 - August 3, 1990. The goal of the International Symposium was to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss the state-of-the-art of hydraulics and hydrology as they relate to arid regions. To this end, papers on such topics as water needs, alluvial fan flooding, water marketing, remote sensing, debris flows, precipitation frequency, soil erosion, and nitrate transport were discussed. Thus, this proceeding provides the engineer with a review of engineering problems in the arid environment and a guide for future investigations.
