Description
This is the first catalogue of Britain's rich collection of 16th/17th-century painted glass roundels from Holland and Belgium. Generously illustrated, it forms an important source for those researching drawings and engravings as well as students of stained glass. Some 2500 roundels and small panels, depicting both sacred and secular scenes, are housed in British churches, secular buildings and private collections. Many are beautifully detailed, giving an insight into contemporary life. Each catalogue entry gives a full description of the roundel, including the origin of its design and details of where else the same design is found.
