Description

Every year, from 1728 to 1753, the brothers Samuel and Nathaniel Buck travelled the length and breadth of England and Wales, producing a series of panoramic views of cities and towns, such as St Paul's Cathedral and London Bridge. The works often included ancillary details, from grazing sheep to figures of drunken sailors and picniking gentry. This book features a number of their works, and also surveys their lives and working methods, their techniques of advertising, engraving and selling their prospects, and also provides descriptions of each subject.
