Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book, the third volume of the "Official History of Australia's Involvement in Southeast Asian Conflicts 1948-1975" series deals with the medical aspects of Australia's military involvement in Southeast Asia between 1950 and 1973, and with its aftermath. It looks at the medical support of Australia's forces and the health of the men and women who served in the conflicts in Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam. The health of Australia's fighting forces was a major problem in Southeast Asian conflicts, and the deployment of medical support played an important strategic role. "Medicine at War" is based largely on contemporary reports, articles and other documents written by service medical officers. Barry Smith has contributed a section dealing specifically with Agent Orange and the legacy it has left on the health of Australian servicemen and women.
