内容説明

This Atlas collects the results disseminated in the vast scientific literature on the evaluation of limit loads for metal plates, shells and disks. After a first, introductory chapter, summarizing briefly the theory of limit loads, the following four chapters deal successively with circular and noncircular plates, cylindrical shells, general shells and disks. Each chapter is self-contained, beginning with its own theoretical introduction and its literature references. The limit loads are given either by formulas (when possible) or by graphs or tables. When they are obtained by computer programmes, as much information as possible is given on the availability of these programmes. Each chapter contains a list of patterns (types of structures and support conditions) and loadings treated in the chapter. For each limit load, the following features are indicated: the yield condition used (Von Mises, Tresca, isotropic or orthotropic, including shear or not, exact or approximate), the fact that it is either a complete solution or a lower (upper) bound, and the possible existence of experimental verification. In a large majority of cases, fields of generalized stresses and strain rates at collapse are given in appendices. The Atlas is intended to be updated every few years. For easy use, printing is one-sided (except introductions and lists of references), so that pages for a given case can be extracted from the book without overlapping two different cases on the same page.
