内容説明
This proceedings, ""Management of Water Resources in North America III"", contains fourteen of the papers presented and discussed at the Third North American Conference on Water Resources Management. The papers and the subsequent discussions covered a broad range of issues, from Canada to Mexico and from management of water quality to scheduling of irrigation. A number of presentations focused on specific problems around the Great Lakes involving the US and Canada, and on problems along the US-Mexico border. Both the US and Mexico commissioners of the International Boundary and Water Commission discussed borderlands issues. Three keynote papers set the tone of the conference. The Regional Director of the US Bureau of Reclamation spoke on new challenges facing the Bureau. The Associate Regional Director General for the Ontario region of Environment Canada spoke on Canada-United States Boundary Waters Management Arrangements. The Director-General of the National Water Commission of Mexico presented the New Directions in Water Management in Mexico. The remaining papers covered topics such as irrigation guidelines in face of water scarcity, water pricing, climatic change and its effect on irrigated agriculture, operating policies for multireservoir systems, and ethics of transboundary conflicts.
