From surgeons to patients, participants from four continents shared their opinions at the Fourth International Symposium on Nursing, Coordinating, Bridging and Rehabilitation in Organ Transplantation. The newest approaches, results and ideas about organ transplantation were discussed. Chapters include an overview of patient support groups and nursing in transplant medicine. Multiorgan donation and its coordinating process, liver support systems such as liver cell supply, liver cell culture and bioreactor were discussed. Topics also included kidney transplantation in children, pancreas transplantation, extracorporeal lung support and lung transplantation. The final chapter presents rehabilitation concepts and the results of solid organ recipients in the early and longterm course.
