In this text, scientists provide a detailed description of the physical events that occur when light interacts with tissue. Their work emphasizes the optical response of tissue during treatment procedures or diagnostic applications of laser light. Supported by numerous illustrations, chapters present methods for estimating tissue optical properties from measurements of reflection and transmission in addition to methods for measuring temperature, thermal properties and rate constants.
