Description
The relationship between Mexico and the USA has historically been a complex and troubled one. Mexicans have resented what they have perceived as the arrogance of the USA. Finding it easy to underestimate its poorer neighbour, the USA has repeatedly formulated policies based on ignorance - policies which often backfire later. To the present day, these tensions continue to adversely affect relations between the two countries. Stressing the importance of the need for mutual respect, this study outlines the nature of the stresses between Mexico and the USA - the drug war, immigration, foreign debt and environmental destruction - and suggests solutions that could benefit both countries.
